Benjamin Hocutt, MSN, AG-ACNP BC, AACC, HF-Cert

Benjamin Hocutt is a nurse practitioner at Pulse Heart Institute with Multicare Health System in advanced heart failure. He takes care of heart failure patients across the spectrum, primarily in the hospital. Hocutt is also involved in a cardiogenic shock program providing medical management and management of acute and durable mechanical support. He is also a lecturer in the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program at Seattle University. Hocutt is active in the American College of Cardiology serving as the Cardiovascular Team Chapter representative for the State of Washington.

Hocutt has upcoming publications contributing the chapter “Digoxin and Other Inotropes” for the second edition of “Cardiovascular Nursing Secrets” and co-authoring the chapter “Heart Failure and Electrophysiology” in the 8th edition of Copstead pathophysiology. He has spoken both nationally and at the state level for the American College of Cardiology and nationally for the American Association of Nurse Practitioners on various heart failure topics.

Objectives for Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be better able to:

  1. Review timeline of heart failure medications.
  2. Discuss indications of novel agents.
  3. Differentiate novel agents from guideline therapy.
  4. Discuss role in therapy for novel agents.
