Course Description

This on-demand lecture series is designed as a pediatric pharmacology update at the advanced practice level. Sessions focus on current recommendations and controversies in drug therapy for common pediatric and adolescent health concerns. Teaching methods include lecture, discussion and case analysis.

Target Audience

For pediatric nurse practitioners, family nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinical nurse specialists, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and other interested healthcare professionals.

Objectives for Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this conference, participants will be better able to:

  1. Describe how a drug is licensed, what the difference is between an NDA and an ANDA, and the intellectual property considerations that underlie the distinction.
  2. Understand and identify the types of tests available to diagnose viral infections.
  3. Understand how the updated AAP guidelines will affect management of children with high blood pressure.
  4. Promote safe use of psychotropic medications in children & adolescents with psychiatric disorders.
  5. Become familiar with off label medication for high risk behavior.
  6. Review the most common pharmacologic options in the treatment of pediatric sleep disorders
