Foundations for School Nursing | 2022
Course Description
Foundations for School Nursing provides relevant, skills-based education for anyone interested in school nursing or working in schools. The course is taught within a flexible, virtual learning environment, made with busy working people in mind. Participants will also have a variety of opportunities to connect with and build local professional networks.
Foundations for School Nursing provides relevant content for and is open to all pre- and post-licensure healthcare professionals and educators interested in school-based health. The course has been approved by the Professional Education Standards Board (PESB) to meet the course requirement for ESA Certification.
Connect with Colleagues
Students will connect virtually in small facilitated groups called Hubs throughout the quarter to synthesize their learning, ask questions, share expertise, and network with colleagues. You will find more information about Hub Meetings under the “Program” tab.
This course is offered in partnership with the School Nurse Organization of Washington (SNOW).

Target Audience
Current and prospective School Nurses, as well as other professionals interested in working in schools.
Objectives for Learning Outcomes
By the conclusion of this program, participants will:
- Develop knowledge of pediatric individual- and population-level health issues and interventions
- Develop knowledge of managing common pediatric acute and chronic conditions in schools
- Build skills and confidence to provide evidence-based care to youth in schools
- Learn current approaches to addressing health inequities in the school setting
