THE ROLE OF PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY

Using case studies to illustrate a variety of eating disorders, this module gives the participant tools for clinical management, including pharmacologic agents.

OBJECTIVES FOR LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be better able to:

  1. Recognize the diagnostic criteria for eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder.
  2. Appreciate the clinical approach to managing eating disorders.
  3. Discuss the role of psychiatric medications in the management of eating disorders.
