Neuropsychotropic Drug Therapy: CGRP Agents for Migraine Prevention

Several new migraine prophylactic agents are now on the market, targeting the calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) or CGRP receptor. This module will give an overview of the clinical pharmacology of CGRP agents and considerations for use in migraine management.

OBJECTIVES FOR LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be better able to:

  1. Recognize migraine quickly in clinic.
  2. Discuss the overview of traditional acute and prophylactic treatments.
  3. Describe CGRP and its role in migraine and as a target for prophylaxis.
